Options for Success
Sometimes students don’t know in which area to specialise when they commence the BE program eg, Civil, Electrical, Mechatronic etc. At UQ, the Engineering program is flexible allowing students to enrol directly into their chosen specialisation or follow one of two general study plans. Flexible options give students the opportunity to learn about the various areas of engineering before selecting a specialisation at the start of their second year.
Widest Range of Specialisations
Our nationally and internationally accredited Bachelor of Engineering (BE) offers one of the largest range of engineering disciplines in Australia, some unique to UQ such as Mining, Materials, Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering. Access to continually modernised facilities and an interdisciplinary approach to learning allow our students not only to develop their technical skills, but also gain a strong foundation ready for the existing and emerging challenges facing society.

Students are taught by experts in their field ensuring our programs are responsive to the changing needs of industry. Many of our staff have been recognised for their teaching and innovation winning federal government and UQ Teaching Excellence awards.
Professional Accreditation
Our Bachelor of Engineering program is accredited by the leading industry association, Engineers Australia. Students are eligible for membership of Engineers Australia upon graduation. Our graduates and students are also offered membership of the Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers Australia (APESMA). Other memberships apply to specific engineering majors.
Support for Students
Studying Engineering at UQ has never been more enjoyable. First-year engineering students have exclusive access to the First-Year Engineering Learning Centre, a social and learning resource equipped with the latest technologies, where engineering students come together in a more relaxed environment. Other learning spaces are also available for later year students throughout the engineering precinct. Academic Advisors are available throughout semester and our staff provide support and advice to new students from their first year of study, particularly with the sometimes difficult transition from high school to university, or as an international student commencing study in Australia.
