A felixible first year (optional) for students who haven’t decided in which study area they want to specialise. Flexible options give students the opportunity to learn about the various areas of engineering before selecting a specialisation at the start of their second year.
Students can study overseas at one of 150+ partner universities in 34 countries all over the world, with no extra tuition fees all while earning credit towards their UQ degree.
The UQ Bachelor of Engineering is accredited by the leading Australian professional engineering association, Engineers Australia, and offers Queensland’s largest choice of engineering study areas.

Excellent employment opportunities strengthened by UQ’s world-class reputation. The Good Universities Guide (2010) rates UQ Engineering graduates with the highest starting salaries of any university in Australia.
Loads of practical experience through site visits, vacation work and industry placements underpinned with advanced theory to meet industry needs. 60 days of industry experience is the minimum requirement for UQ Bachelor of Engineering students. Some students work for up to a whole semester at a partner company site in Australia or overseas, as part of their studies.
UQ offers scholarships worth over $1.5 Million each year to engineering students entering first year from school in Australia and overseas, and also to current students already studying in the Bachelor of Engineering. Industry sponsored scholarships offer current students further opportunities for financial assistance, industry experience and in some cases a job well before they’ve graduated.
UQ Engineering offers great learning and social facilities including the First Year Engineering Learning Centre, multiple discipline specific study facilities all set within one of Australia’s most beautiful campuses. Academic Advisors are available throughout semester and our staff provide support and advice to new students from their first year of study, particularly with the sometimes difficult transition from high school to university.
